Welcome to our first ever Lakeland Lodges blog post! Timed to fit perfectly with your November lodge holiday, it’s our guide to what’s on nearby.

We’re excited to be sharing our ideas on how to make the most of your stay with us. And as we are perfectly positioned between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, in the fabulous county of Lancashire, we’ve compiled a short list of events that make the most of our enviable location…

Ghoulish fun for all the family at Brockhole

For those of you who are enjoying half-term in one of our lodges, the Ghosts and Ghouls Halloween Trail is a great family activity that’s running from 1st to 5th November. Located on the shore of Lake Windermere, Brockhole is a great space that’s a hit with visitors of all ages and is also home to the Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets activities. The Halloween Trail begins at 11am daily and costs £3, there’s no need to book in advance.

Skipton Castle

The castle is over 900 years old and one of the most complete and well preserved medieval castles in England. It’s only an hour from us and we find that it combines brilliantly with lunch and a wander around the stunning market town of Skipton. The castle is open daily from 10am (11am on Sundays) and last admission is 4pm during November.

Soul AM at The Rotunda bar, The Midland Hotel, Morecambe

Head to the stunning 4* art deco hotel on Morecambe’s shoreline for food and drink in the Rotunda Bar on November 24th, and you’ll be treated to a free evening of Northern Soul and Motown from DJ Steve Middlesborough. The evening’s entertainment starts at 8pm and there’s no entry charge, simply book a table and soak up the music as you sample the best dishes and cocktails from the menu.

Light Up Lancaster

No early November lodge holiday would be complete without a fireworks display, and Light Up Lancaster is one of the finest displays in the north! The festival is held over two nights (Friday 3rd & Saturday 4th) and is completely free. Thousands of visitors will enjoy after-dark art trails shining a light on the city’s familiar places. Expect projections, artworks and illuminations on handsome historic buildings and monuments. The whole thing leads up to an extravaganza of fireworks launched from the roof of the city’s medieval castle, which is set to a rousing soundtrack and lights up the skyline.

Kendal Mountain Festival, 16-19 November

The biggest event of its kind in Europe, the Festival includes inspirational speakers, photographic exhibitions and films associated with mountains and extreme sports. Right on the edge of the Lake District, the town becomes a gathering place for outdoor lovers who are ready to celebrate mountain culture.
